The location. Just beside Wakayama station, west exit. We arrived by airport limo bus from Kansai airport at the east exit. Just take the link way to the right of the east exit, via an elevator down. Granvia hotel is clean, the moderate twin room is very comfortable and spacious enough to open 2 medium size luggage. Lighting was good with sufficient PowerPoints. There is also a choice of pillows at the lobby. They offer curry rice every night from 7 to 8pm and a free drink on the 7th floor terrace from 6-9pm . Nice gesture. Staff was very helpful in advising how to get around by bus. Really appreciated that. There's a Dinng Street at the basement of the station for dinner options. Doutor and Tully's in the station are great for breakfast. Kagonoya is an affordable and great restaurant nearby for authentic Japanese food. Will recommend Granvia anytime.

Hotel service is excellent. Staff were proactive and patient in giving advice and information. It was always service with a smile and their English proficiency was good, making communication a breeze. Small gestures like curry rice for dinner, free drink at the roof terrace between 6 to 9pm, a pillow choice at the lobby makes the stay more pleasant. Full bathroom toiletries were given, except for skin milk and lotion, which would have been very helpful in cold dry weather. 2 bottles of water were provided every day. The location was excellent next to Wakayama station with food options nearby eg. in the Dining Street in the basement of the station. A limousine bus to Kansai Airport is available opposite the east exit although with limited timings (which can be checked online) Fully recommended for a comfortable stay.

Hotel was in an excellent location, just steps away from the JR station and connected to a department store / mall. It was easy to get around by train or bus. Check-in was efficient and my room was comfortable and a reasonably good size with space for luggage. All of the staff were extremely professional and helpful. Breakfast was good with a mix of Japanese and Western options including local specialities from the area, although I did feel it was on the expensive side at 3000 Yen per person. There were some nice perks like some vouchers for free curry and rice in the evenings and a guest lounge / rooftop. Room had some nice touches like Smart TV and the Wi-Fi was extremely fast and worked very well. Overall it was a very good choice and really well situated for getting around the Wakayama area easily.

Jonathan

Very convenient location right next to JR Wakayama station. Can catch city bus and taxi right outside of hotel. Clean room and comfortable bed. Smaller than American chain hotel rooms but comparable to a veranda cruise ship cabin without the veranda. Electric kettle, bottled water and tea provided. Hotel has system for room cleaning in which you choose how often cleaning is done. Located next to department store with food, beverage and grocery options. Also many delicious local restaurants are within walking distance.

Super convenient location, right next to the Wakayama station. Check in was easy. One of the reception staff is Chinese so if you have no problem if you can speak only Chinese. The porter is very helpful, he saw that we have so many luggage and shopping bags, he came forward to help us, bring all the luggage and bags to our rooms. There is one free coffee at the cafe if you scan the QR code on the TV screen in your room. Also, in the evening, between 7 to 8 pm, there's complimentary curry rice which was delicious.
